Short Term Missions Trips

Philippians 1:5 Project

We're grateful you are interested in serving our church plant, our city, and our country.

Introduction

Monuments and memorials, historic architecture, power, wealth, and influence – Washington, D.C. is a place unlike any other. Beyond buildings and politics, D.C. is made up of a variety of unique neighborhoods that pop with lively restaurants, culture, music, and people. The city continues to experience drastic change as a development roar has brought revitalization and new homes, apartments, businesses, and attractions.

The need for gospel work in Washington is massive. The population is growing as more and more people come to live and work in this world class metropolis. In addition, ambitious college students come yearly in droves to study at D.C.’s major universities. Many people living in Washington have no intention of attending a church service, and the percentage is even higher among younger people. With many churches and ministries desiring to help, we're excited to have a system in place where your church or ministry team can serve King's Church and our city.

King’s Church Short Term Mission Focus

We desire to focus our volunteer teams on our P.E.A.C.E plan. It's our desire that your church or ministry team focuses on some or all of the below categories to best serve God in D.C.

P – Plant Churches
E – Evangelize
A – Aid the marginalized
C – Care for the church
E – Equip leaders

Process

In order to make our mission, vision, values, and goals a reality, we will need to lean on you as a gospel partner. In the New Testament, Paul rejoices at the gospel partnerships that he shares among the churches. He writes in Philippians 1:3-5, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

King's Church has assessed our need for the first three years of our plant and we will need to lean on partners for three things:

First, we desire to gear your team towards one or more aspects of our P.E.A.C.E. plan. We will work with you to determine the best activities and ways to accomplish these goals. For instance, we may agree that the best use of time for your team is to aid the marginalized which could include things like neighborhood block parties, shelter work, or building projects.

Second, we desire to encourage and equip your team with biblical truth and perspectives from a church planter. We are real people who operate by faith to bring the gospel and support to those who God loves. To accomplish this goal, we host mini-services and speak to groups. It would be a win if you and your team were able to catch the vision for God's heart for the people in Washington, D.C.

Third, King’s Church needs financial partners. As we have assessed the demands of the city and the needs of our people, it's our hope to find churches or ministries through our Philippians 1:5 Short-Term Mission Project that will make a donation to help us reach our budget goal. We have been blessed by churches and ministries in the past who have made a donation in union with their short-term trip. It helps us significantly!

Next Steps

Costs, travel, safety, transportation, lodging -- we can help you figure a lot of this out. The question is-- how can you join God’s work in D.C.? The next steps are emailing us to inquiry about partnering with us. We are so thankful you have checked this out!
